My Story
My story begins in suburban St. Louis, Missouri. In many ways, it was an idyllic childhood. I played football. I learned to love the game of golf. I was an Eagle Scout. I went to St. Louis University High School, worked really hard, and got into Stanford University. There, I was an international relations major. My junior year of college, I studied abroad in China, perfecting the Mandarin I had studied since the 7th grade. After Stanford, I moved to San Francisco to work in consulting at Bain & Company. From there, I got a job working in private equity at Bain Capital in Boston. Then, I went to Harvard Business School to get my MBA, before returning to Bain Capital. I left that job to work in mid-cap private equity before leaving to start my own commercial real estate development firm. While growing my career, I had also grown a beautiful family with my wife and two amazing sons.
From the outside, life looked perfect. On the inside, physical and mental health concerns were making life incredibly hard. I was struggling and self-medicating with alcohol, which only complicated my overall health issues. I got sober and decided to reimagine my next chapter. I no longer wanted to travel all over the world, missing precious moments with my family. I wanted to devote my professional life to something more meaningful to me personally. At the same time, I was discovering all of the exciting non-alcoholic products emerging in the growing NA category, but it finding it nearly impossible to purchase these products locally. I decided to use my background in business and merge it with my passion for NA. In 2023, I founded Dray, the first dedicated non-alcoholic bottle shop concept in Boston. We now have two stores, one in Boston's South End and one in Cambridge's Central Square, along with an e-commerce, distribution, and B2B business.
